Dear Avid,

0.1 msec attack time and 10 msec. release time in the difference mode is much to fast. remember: a quarter note in 120 BPM needs 0.5 sec. or 500 msec. so it's normal that you hear distortion because you're not changing the dynamic you're changing the waveform ;-)

what kind of music you are working on? whats the tempo?

thank you. I tried it with a 100 msec release time and the result is excellent now. I found out that the attack time was to short as well so kick and snare were brutally cut. I never thought that attack and release are so important. I worked with other plugins, there is no difference if I change the attack / release there...

its a bluesrock track around 133 BPM.

133 BPM = 0,45 sec per quarter note, I would take 250 msec for release and 10 msec for attack. Dry/Wet at 30% to 50%, threshold -15 dB and a 1: 3.5 ratio. shift the makeup gain until you have a signal of - 1 dB in the output.

I just can say thank you again. I tried it with exactly this values and it sounds powerful and punchy with a little live club smell ;-)
